Some updates:
I’m travelling internationally for a family wedding next week. I’ll be away for the three weeks. So expect only 1 more post between now and when I return early October.
Why icons?
I spent most of this summer painting icons.
Some people hate it when I say “painting” instead of “writing”. But the truth is, in English we have two verbs for two different actions: painting & writing. So it’s proper to say “painting” icons not “writing” icons.
Within the next few months/year, I plan on writing an explanation on why I’m personally painting icons, the incredible philosophical/theological principles underpinning iconography, the true implications of icons in the modern world, why the iconography tradition should be living not stagnant, and finally, the deep connection between Hindu and Christian iconography.
Scroll down to see some of the icons I’ve completed or am actively working on.
Now here are seven book recommendations for Fall 2025:
Parmindes - Plato
Chandogya Upanisad - Unknown
Gospel of John - St. John
Love's Ripening: Rumi on the heart's journey - Rumi
Beauty Spirit Matter: Icons in the modern world - Aidan Hart
Darshan: Seeing the divine image in India - Diana Eck
Life of Moses - Gregory Nyssa
I’ve certainly cited some of these works in my writing.
I just released a new episode after a 3-month break, have a listen.
