To Sleep in or not to sleep in?
On your deathbed would you regret not having slept-in more or having slept-in too often?
I’m inclined to think that you’d regret not getting up earlier in the morning than regretting not sleeping in more often. Because as humans, we don’t live to be comforted by warm blankets and soft pillows; warm blankets and soft pillows are tools to help us sleep so that we can rest and begin a new day. We live to create, to think, to love, and to become better humans.
Sleep is necessary but all necessary things can be overindulged. And overindulgence softens the mind and body, making us fragile. We know this from our own experiences.
So on days I want to sleep-in, I ask myself this question: On my deathbed would I regret not having slept-in more or having slept-in too often?
The answer is always regretting having slept-in too often.
