If you’re new around here, welcome to Wisdom Friday Wednesdays - where I share wisdom from history’s greatest minds.

Friendship is a rare and precious asset.
A true friend celebrates with us and mourns beside us in sorrow. Finding friends like these is harder than we often imagine.
We often fool ourselves into believing we have more true friends than we actually do.
We mistake casual acquaintances for deep friendships because few beers together. Or because we work in the same industry. Or because we attend the same exclusive networking event. Most of these friendships are convenient, geographical, or temporal. If any of these things changed, the friendship would suffer.
But we like to think otherwise. We cling to the illusion of having lots of true friends.
But, in reality, we don’t.
It’s only when we’re in the midst of suffering that we see the truth. Consider the story of Job, whose friends blamed him for his pain and suffering instead of mourning with him. They hurled insults, shattering his expectation of support from at least three close friends, leaving him with none.
Like Job, we all want true friends in our lives. But this means we must to be true friend to others.
The Book of Proverbs teaches how we can be true friends.
Lessons from the Book of Proverbs:
A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother." Explain that true friendship goes beyond casual acquaintances or online followers; it's about depth and loyalty.
The righteous choose their friends carefully, but the way of the wicked leads them astray.
Perfume and incense bring joy to the heart, and the pleasantness of a friend springs from their heartfelt advice.
A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity.
He who loves purity of heart and has kindness on his lips, the king will be his friend.
Faithful are the wounds of a friend; profuse are the kisses of an enemy.
As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.
Till next week,
Peace
